Dr. Saladino trained at the University of Arizona with a focus on Integrative Medicine, obtaining his M.D. in 2015. He is a certified Functional Medicine practitioner (IFMCP) through the Institute for Functional Medicine. His interests include connections between the microbiome and mental illness as well as nutritional biochemistry. In his practice he is passionate about understanding and correcting the roots of disease.

Seattle sits at the 47th parallel, this means long days in the summer but also lots of darkness in the winter and a long period of the year where there is no ultraviolet light. If you've lived through a winter in Seattle you are familiar with this phenomenon, and have probably experienced the "blues" that can accompany short, dark, and cold days of the pacific northwest. It doesn't have to be this way! In this talk we will be discussing all things light, visible, ultraviolet, infrared, and how to use them in the dark times here to maintain jubilant mood, energy, and proper sleep cycles. We'll also talk about the fascinating concept of hygge (pronounced "hue-guh") which has been a part of winter Norwegian culture for centuries but has only recently been appreciated on this side of the pond.
